Home games

To the editor:

Please drop the idea of moving home football games to Arrowhead Stadium. Home football games produce much-needed revenue for the community’s small-business owners. (Don’t forget about the proposed use of sales-tax revenue to support the university.) Not everything the university does has a positive effect on the community, so why take away the positive and leave us with only the negative?

The athletic department is being shortsighted, only thinking about how to maximize its own revenues. Millions have been spent on renovations to Memorial Stadium, and millions more are needed to fulfill the football program’s wish list. If you want community support, support the community!

I have a news flash for you. The athletic department wouldn’t be so needy for funds if it weren’t required to pay million-dollar-plus bonuses. Moving the Missouri game was a bad idea 25 years ago, and it is still a bad idea today. Please keep home games at home.
