To the editor:

Dear Coach Mangino, as an avid Longhorn fan and UT graduate, please allow me to congratulate you and your team on an exceptional game on Saturday. There is no doubt your team deserved to win, and we did not. The Jayhawks had the fire and determination that we did not.

Having said that, please do not let a blown call by the Big 12 referees take anything away from the effort your team showed. Although it did give us the chance to come from behind and win, it got us no closer to the BCS bowls had the call not been made. We again will be on the outside looking in. But for those of us in Texas, we’d appreciate the fact that our game with Texan A&M will determine who goes to the Cotton Bowl, our traditional bowl of choice. Good luck to you and your team in the future. You deserved this one!
