Free State High senior Jamie Stanclift has signed a letter of intent to play softball for Akron.
Zips coach Julie Wright -- a former Kansas University assistant -- made the announcement in a press release, though Stanclift is scheduled to make a formal announcement at 2 p.m. Monday in the FSHS library.
Stanclift picked the Division One school after making campus visits to Emporia State, Wichita State and Akron. The third baseman hit .345 as a junior and had a .905 fielding percentage.
"Jamie is an excellent athlete who will provide a lot of power in the middle of our lineup," Wright said.
Stanclift has earned second-team All-Sunflower League honors three years in a row.
