Law enforcement report

  • Lawrence Police said Monday that from Friday through Sunday they’d handled:
  • 828 calls
  • 80 reports
  • six thefts
  • four burglaries
  • 14 noninjury accidents
  • one injury accident
  • 30 noise disturbances
  • A series of intentionally set trash bin fires kept firefighters busy late Sunday and early Monday. The first fire started about 11:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Massachusetts Street. The last happened about 2 a.m. in the 1800 block of Massachusetts Street. Other fires were reported at 1425 Ky. and 907 Mass.

Injury accidents

  • A pickup truck struck a pedestrian Friday evening at 33rd and Iowa streets. Johnnie Williams, 65, Topeka, was driving a Ford F-150 south on Iowa Street at 8:42 p.m. when he struck Dylan J. Guthrie, 13, Lawrence, who was walking west in the crosswalk on 33rd Street. Guthrie was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released.
  • Another car-pedestrian wreck happened at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday at Sixth and Massachusetts streets when westbound driver Emma A. Overbaugh, 47, Tonganoxie, failed to yield to pedestrian Dianne M. Damro, 67, Lawrence, who was walking north across Sixth Street in the crosswalk. Damro was treated at LMH and released.
  • A 17-year-old Lecompton girl was treated at LMH after a wreck Thursday evening at Riverview Road and Kasold Drive. Sarah E. Wise was injured about 6:15 p.m. when her southbound Toyota Camry collided with a Chrysler Cirrus driven by 41-year-old Ming Zhang of Lawrence.

¢ A 20-year-old Lawrence woman was treated at LMH after a wreck Wednesday afternoon at 13th and Tennessee streets. Ashley D. Stubblefield was driving west on 13th Street in a Honda when she failed to yield to a southbound Nissan driven by Brian D. Buck, 25, Roeland Park. Police issued Stubblefield a traffic citation, according to a report.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 23-year-old Lawrence man reported a $2,700 Gateway laptop computer stolen between 9:35 p.m. and 9:52 p.m. Thursday from his home in the 900 block of Rhode Island Street.
