To the editor:

In my opinion, the smoking ban is not the cause behind some food places seeing a drop in their revenue. The Hereford House, for example, might want to look at two other options. One would be their prices in relation to their portion of food. The other might include the addition of another steakhouse and other new businesses that cater to the younger family. Lawrence in general hasn't been kind to steak houses. Try counting the number that have come and gone even with acceptable prices. I've been to other cities that have a smoking ban. Good restaurants survive based on quality of food and prices a family can afford. There are some places in town that parents wouldn't take their children because of the smoke, but are now visiting due to the cleaner air.
