T reports ridership increase in October

The Lawrence Transit System posted a solid increase in riders in October, according to a new city report.

Ridership on the city-owned T increased by 17 percent compared with October 2003, the transit system’s monthly report said. The T served 29,775 riders during the month.

The transit report also found the system’s on-time performance improved to 98 percent, up from 96 percent a year ago.

Blood drive scheduled

The Lawrence Community Blood Center is conducting a blood drive this week.

The drive is from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the center, 1410 Kasold Drive, Suite 6.

People also may walk in to the center during business hours to donate blood.

The Community Blood Center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
