School support

To the editor:

On Nov. 2, the voters of USD 343 — Grantville, Lecompton, Perry and Williamstown — voted to move forward with a plan to improve facilities within the district. The vote was a resounding affirmation of the community’s desire to put kids first and to support schools. Our district has already started work to make this project a reality for our students when school opens in August 2006.

On behalf of the students of our school district, the board of education of USD 343 sincerely thanks the many volunteers who worked to make this proposal a reality. The effort you put forth and the enthusiasm you demonstrated for this proposal were more valuable than we can express.

We thank, too, the voters of our school district. Of course, a large majority of you voted in favor of the proposal. For that we are pleased. However, a primary goal was to have as many well-informed voters as possible make this decision. If you voted “yes” or if you voted “no,” thank you for voting and for your time and effort in learning about this proposal.

We are, indeed, fortunate to live in a school district that wants the best for its students.

Greg Howard, president,

for the USD 343 board of education,

Perry
