To the editor:
Wednesday, I attended the Ballard Community Center annual meeting at the Dole Institute of Politics. During the meeting, the center thanked its staff, volunteers, board and community partners. Likewise, I would like to publicly thank the center for the many wonderful services it provides to the community.
Many in Lawrence may not know that the Ballard Center provides quality early childhood education to those families who may not otherwise be able to afford it. Additionally, the center provides emergency food, prescription, utility and rent assistance, administers a holiday bureau and school supply program and provides many other services too numerous to mention that all benefit the needy in our community.
Thank you to the teachers, support staff and volunteers that make the Ballard Center such a wonderful and vital part of our community.
