I can answer the question of the article about the high number of deer vs. automobile accidents on Kansas roads in November!
It (November-ish) is deer mating season, which coincides with hunting season in Kansas and Missouri, both by bow and rifle! Not only are these animals on the move, trying to mate, but they are shaken up because people have been out trying to kill them. Wouldn't you be running with abandon, too?
