Veterans Day closings announced

Some state and federal offices and services in Lawrence and Douglas County will be closed Thursday in observance of Veterans Day.

Though most banks will be closed, Sunflower Bank, 4831 Quail Crest Place, in Lawrence, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The U.S. Postal Service will deliver only Express Mail, but collection boxes will be checked.

Lawrence City Hall will be open, as will city offices in Ottawa, Oskaloosa and Eudora. City offices in Tonganoxie, Baldwin, McLouth and DeSoto will be closed.

Douglas County government offices will be open, but court offices will be closed. County offices in Franklin, Jefferson and Leavenworth also will be closed.

Kansas University classes will be conducted. Haskell Indian Nations University will be closed.

Lawrence Bus Co. and the Lawrence Transit System will operate.

Douglas County Senior Services will be open, and Lawrence Meals on Wheels will deliver.

The Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt., will be open.

UPS and FedEx will operate on a normal schedule.

The Lawrence Journal-World will be published, and the circulation office will operate on a regular schedule. USA Today also will be published.
