Law enforcement report

  • Police responded to Langston Hughes School, 1101 George Williams Way, at 11:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report someone had damaged the school’s south lawn by driving in circles. Suspects have been identified, school officials said, and damage was estimated at $600.
  • Lawrence police arrested a 21-year-old Eudora man early Sunday on suspicion of threatening violence against an officer. The incident happened when officers were called to a disturbance in the 500 block of Eldridge Street.
  • Lawrence police arrested a 29-year-old Lawrence man Sunday night after a vehicle pursuit that began when they responded to a call of a burglary in progress about 9:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of Harper Street.
  • Lawrence police arrested a 32-year-old Lawrence man Monday night on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A burglar damaged a window screen and stole a $2,000 laptop computer, $600 flat-screen TV and $700 Nikon camera from an apartment in the 900 block of Louisiana Street, according to a report. The theft happened between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
  • Two women who live in the 2400 block of West 25th Street reported $5,000 worth of diamond rings, $2,500 in compact discs, liquor, $650 in perfume and other items stolen from their apartment in a forced-entry burglary. The theft happened between 10:30 a.m. Thursday and 2:50 a.m. Friday, according to a report.
  • A neighbor is suspected of stealing a $1,200 diamond engagement ring set taken between Thursday and Saturday from a 24-year-old woman who lives in the 100 block of North Michigan Street.
  • Someone stole a 53-year-old Douglas County man’s John Deere tractor valued at $17,500. The theft happened between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 9:20 a.m. Friday in the 2100 section of North 1000 Road, according to a sheriff’s office report. Also stolen were a $2,450 mowing deck and $400 canopy.
  • A 1989 Chevrolet truck valued at $1,500, a Craftsman generator and a Coleman power washer were stolen between 10 p.m. Friday and 5:30 a.m. Saturday from the alley in the 1000 block of Illinois Street. They belonged to a 39-year-old self-employed man who lives on the block.
