Opera’s value
To the editor:
One of the many joys of taking a trip westward across Kansas on a Saturday is being able to hear the opera broadcasts ringing across the prairie in this supposedly backward part of Kansas. For decades, these broadcasts have not only introduced our state’s youths to a traditional art form, they also have opened windows to a world of history, musical information and urbane wit through the quizzes and interviews at intermission.
