Corporate raid

To the editor:

As a local architect with about one-third of my experience in historic renovation and about one-third in home remodeling and additions I find it incredible that Home Depot is going after the local Old Home Depot which is, in no way, a similar business.

I have only shopped at the new Home Depot once in 2003 and now plan on avoiding them altogether. Old Home Depot is a way of recycling building products through reuse of salvage materials and a much better example of a Lawrence business for the community as opposed to yet another variant of a “corporate Rumpelstiltskin” getting into your wallet with no long-term contribution to community harmony.
