6News to cover St. Patrick’s Parade live

Turning green with envy at those who get to go to Lawrence’s colorful St. Patrick’s Day Parade? You can see it too — through a live televised newscast and a live online camera.

Today’s parade, which begins at 1 p.m. will be covered live on Sunflower Broadband’s Channel 6 from a post just outside of Liberty Hall in the 600 block of Massachusetts Street.

The annual parade, which draws thousands of people to the downtown each year, will be covered in its entirety on Channel 6 by Ross Janssen, 6News meteorologist, and Sharita Hutton, 6News anchor.

Channel 6 will show replays of the parade at 7:30 tonight, 10 a.m. Thursday, 10:30 a.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

The 6News TowerCam, which can be seen live online by clicking here, will be pointed at the parade as it makes its way into the 600 block of Massachusetts Street.

Massachusetts Street will close at noon from Sixth Street to 14th Street. The parade begins at 1 p.m. at South Park, just south of 11th Street and will proceed on Massachusetts through downtown Lawrence.

The parade will continue over the Kansas River Bridge to North Second Street, then east on Locust Street to North Ninth Street, ending at the Flamingo Club, 501 N. Ninth St.
