Police arrested Kansas University football player John Randle for the second time in four months Friday following an altercation at a downtown nightclub.
According to booking information from the Douglas County Jail, Lawrence Police arrested Randle on suspicion of disorderly conduct and interfering with the duties of a police officer after responding to a fight at The Granada, 1020 Mass.
Randle, 19, KU's second-leading rusher last season, was booked into the Douglas County Jail just after 3 a.m. Friday, according to jail records.
Sgt. Mike Pattrick of the Lawrence Police Department said police were called to The Granada just before 1 a.m. after a fight broke out. Employees removed those involved, but the fight continued in a nearby parking lot. As officers arrived, they observed a man yelling, Pattrick said.
The man ran when officers approached him. He was later caught in the 1000 block of Kentucky and identified as Randle, Pattrick said. He had someone else's driver's license and was suspected of using alcohol, according to a police report.
According to jail records, the Wichita native was released on $200 bond and given a notice to appear in municipal court March 17. Randle was arrested in November on suspicion of domestic battery and criminal damage to property. Charges were never filed in connection with that incident.
Jayhawk football head coach Mark Mangino was out of the office Friday, but an athletic department spokesman said Mangino would not comment.
