Emergency care

To the editor:

To Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical:

Thank you for the superb services rendered to me on Nov. 29. I had an anaphylactic reaction, and I was terrified that I was going to die. I had been a medical transcriptionist in the past and knew how seriously in trouble I was.

Your EMTs arrived almost immediately after the call was made (the bakery I was in was just around the corner from your station). Regrettably, I have lost the note I made of the names of the personnel who took care of me. They calmed me down — no easy task! They were efficient in their work in spite of my constant babbling and chatter and quickly delivered me to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital emergency room.

I give your EMTs the highest praise for a job well done. They have been excellently trained and provided top-of-the-line services to me. My compliments to your department for the training given to your EMTs and their superb implementation of that training in the field.
