Smokers allowed

On June 26, David Claassen-Wilson attacks Darrell Lea’s argument by calling it a “straw man fallacy.” I find this ironic since Mr. Claassen-Wilson’s original point is, itself, an example of a fallacy. He compares the Lawrence smoking ban to Jim Crow laws because, he says, it prevents smokers and nonsmokers from associating on private property. False analogy: The two objects or events being compared are relevantly dissimilar. I assure you, smokers will still be allowed into Lawrence businesses; it’s just that from now on they will be asked to kindly step outside when they want a cigarette.
