Timely repairs
To the editor:
I want to commend the efforts of Westar Energy in restoring electricity to the Dairy Queen, 2545 Iowa, on June 18, following the early morning storm. Upon arrival at my store, I explained to a Westar employee that I had DQ frozen cakes for Father’s Day that would be lost if power was not restored within a few hours. Having no other freezer options or energy source, I began to realize that things did not look good and my fate rested in the hands of the Westar Energy repair crews.
At 5:45 a.m., Westar assured me they were doing all they could. I had resigned myself to the fact that I was going to lose hundreds of frozen ice cream cakes and spend the majority of my day cleaning up melted ice cream from several freezers. I returned at 7:00 a.m. to begin damage assessment and clean up. I was pleasantly surprised to see power had been restored and no damage to the frozen cakes. You can imagine the relief I felt.
I want to formally thank the entire crew from Westar Energy for their expediency and professionalism in heading off my potential disaster.
Steve Walter,
Lawrence
