Get-away car

To the editor:

To the parents of a young, dark-haired boy, driving a maroon, older-model Honda Accord south on Kasold and Sixth June 24, around 11:30 a.m.: Your son, driving too fast, hit my stopped car from behind before maneuvering into the turn lane. When I got out to inspect the damage, he said his brakes gave out, and before I could get the license tag number, he turned east on Sixth and left the scene. I could not follow because I wasn’t in the turn lane, and the light changed.

My bumper was not badly damaged, but he broke the law by leaving the scene of an accident. If this could be your son, please talk to him about his responsibilities as a driver. He may think he “got away” with this bumper-bender, but next time he may seriously injure someone or himself.

Karen R. Wright,
