Sheriff’s department confirms identity of body in Kansas River

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department has identified the body pulled Wednesday morning from the Kansas River as that of 51-year-old Robert Lee Lathrom of Oskaloosa.

Family members reported Lathrom missing Monday afternoon after he disappeared while fishing with family and friends along the river. A fisherman reported seeing the body wash up around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday along the North bank of the river about 50 yards east of the Kaw River Bridge.

Family members said Wednesday they believed it to be Lathrom’s body.
