Park rest rooms

To the editor:

I recently encountered a dilemma that led me to try to understand the reasoning. I am a runner who runs early in the morning. One recent Saturday morning, at 6:30 a.m., I was out on a long run. I found myself needing a bathroom. I was near Dad Perry Park and ran over to use the facilities. They were locked. I can’t express how surprised/angry I was when I read the sign on the door. “Rest rooms open until 1:30 a.m.!” How crazy is that?

Anyone at a dark park, in the rest room, at 1:30 a.m., is probably doing something they shouldn’t be doing. I know it is hard for most to understand that there are those who get up very early in the morning, just as I know there are those who stay up very late. Why not accommodate both types of people and have the rest rooms open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.?

Just a thought.
