Lost in space

To the editor:

It’s time for a change in the White House.

Unemployment is at an all-time high. Millions of people have no health coverage. There are talks of closing schools because there is no money to keep them open. What about “No child left behind?”

There are huge blackouts because our electrical grid is too antiquated to carry the load. The whole country’s highway system needs to be upgraded to handle the increasing numbers of cars.

Now Mr. Bush wants to spend 100 billion dollars to put man on Mars. Why? He says we will find resources there. And then what? Will that help us here on the planet Earth?

Maybe Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney will volunteer to go to Mars … Maybe they will find oil there and they can have Halliburton build a pipeline to get it here.

I guess I need someone to explain the benefits of resources on Mars.
