Williams legacy
To the editor:
I felt compelled to write after reading your editorial of June 3. I am not a KU alum, but I had the opportunity of working with the KU Alumni Association, as well as a number of other alumni associations over a period of years. You are absolutely correct that the KUAA is recognized as a leader among its peers nationwide.
However, your treatment of Fred Williams as the now past president of the KUAA completely disregards his contributions to that reputation. Fred is personally recognized among his former peers, as well as many professionals who work with alumni associations, as one of the most progressive and diligent leaders in the industry. The KUAA program is a direct product of his innovation and hard work.
Your position is unbalanced at best and borders on vindictive. It is apparent that the Journal-World has issues with Fred. Whatever those issues are, they do not justify seizing this moment to impugn his legacy at KU.
