Fan loyalty

To the editor:

Thirty five years ago, I moved to Lawrence, and the first thing that I did was to purchase season Kansas University basketball tickets. I also contributed to the Williams Fund. I support Mr. and Mrs. Hack’s perceptions. It is sad to give up seats because one “does not have enough points.”

I feel that longtime loyalty to the Kansas Jayhawks (through thick and thin) should be appreciated by KU. It would be a far better plan to continue rewarding loyal fans with their regular seats. They are the ones who attend games and support the team whether they are having a winning season or not. They are not the ones who Roy Williams called the “wine and cheese” fans.

Allen Fieldhouse is famous for that “sixth man” and Perkins’ new plan is destroying that spirit. It is sad that a plan was not devised that would ensure that Kansas University would have continued to enjoy great fan support and the goodwill of the Kansas people.
