Goodbye seats
To the editor:
After 50 years of season tickets and thousands of dollars contributed to the Williams Fund, we find ourselves, at ages 74 and 80, being sent to the third floor of Allen Fieldhouse for our basketball seats. Physically this would be extremely difficult for us even with the use of the elevator, and so the time has probably come to say “goodbye” to this arena.
How much better it would have been if we could have chosen to give up our seats (and, yes, they’re good ones) with dignity, acknowledging when we could no longer maneuver the stairs, etc. rather than to be told that we “don’t have enough points”? I’m certain there are many others who would agree that this would be the Kansas way to handle it.
Let the moneyed people have our seats when we decide we can no longer use them.

Lawrence
