Deceptive link

To the editor:

President Bush on Wednesday told Air Force Academy graduates that “Like the Second World War, our present conflict began with a ruthless surprise attack on the United States.”

If he really believes the actions of the 9-11 terrorists led to the invasion of Iraq, he is profoundly confused. If he is merely trying to maintain that link in the mind of the public, he is being blatantly deceitful.

His motives are not always clear. What is clear is that in November we must vote into the White House someone with no less than an accurate and unclouded understanding of history and current events, plus an ability to honestly and intelligently discuss complex issues.

Clarity and foresight are mandatory traits for a world leader. George Bush has proved again and again that he has neither.
