Advance voting open Saturday at courthouse

Booths at the Douglas County Courthouse will be open Saturday morning for those wanting to vote in primary elections ahead of time.

Advance voting for Tuesday’s primary will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday on the second floor of the courthouse, 1100 Mass.

The polling place will continue to be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, the deadline for advance voting.

‘River City’ to explore athletics at Haskell

The storied history of sports at Haskell Indian Nations Institute is featured on this week’s encore of “River City Weekly.”

From perennial national powerhouse football teams in the 1920s to the great individual stars like John Levi, Billy Mills and Jim Thorpe, Haskell’s sports history is deep and rich. Historian Steve Jansen serves as the guide to those who made Haskell’s sports legend.
