Cleanup duty

To the editor:

The city leaders passed the smoking ban and now they are perplexed about what to do with all the cigarette butts on the street. The recent Journal-World poll offered solutions such as: A) The city pick up the trash; B) Fine the smokers; C) The city purchase additional trash receptacles; D) The business owners pick up the tab.

Here is a new idea: The city leaders that created this mess with their smoking ban should be dispatched daily to clean up the mess.

This smoking ban is a direct attack on the rights and liberty of business owners. The role of government is to ensure liberty, not limit it. It is time to repeal the ban.
