East Lawrence home damaged in fire
Lawrence firefighters extinguished a fire early Sunday at a house in East Lawrence.
The cause of the fire, which was reported at 4:12 a.m., is under investigation. Firefighters arrived at the house in the 1700 block of Miller Drive to find flames coming from the attached garage, a news release issued by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical stated.
Although the house was occupied, no one was injured in the fire. The report listed the primary occupant as Charlea Rockhold. Damage to the structure was estimated at $60,000. A van parked outside the garage also was damaged.
The fire was brought under control at 4:39 a.m.
Accidents reported throughout county
Law enforcement officers were called to investigate a series of minor injury accidents that took place throughout Sunday in Douglas County.
Two accidents occurred on U.S. Highway 56 about four and five miles east of Baldwin. Another accident occurred in Baldwin in the 500 block of Ames Street.
Officers also investigated an accident southwest of Lawrence at 1175 E. 1067 Road.
Few details about the accidents were available Sunday. Some people involved in the wrecks were transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for what were thought to be minor injuries.
