KU symbols

To the editor:

I noticed today that Kansas University tuition is going up 18 percent this year. Yesterday, I filled out a questionnaire that was sent to me online to find out if the Jayhawk and the university seal were good enough advertising symbols for the university. Is the university spending its money on advertising because it no longer feels it has a good enough product at a good enough price to attract new students on its own merit? I was offended that KU money was being used to mess with the symbols rather than improve the substance of the school.
