To the editor:

The Orchards Golf Course would like to express our appreciation to a couple of groups responsible for the golf course remaining open to the public. The neighbor association (homes surrounding the Orchards Golf Course) pushed, shoved and forced the conservation easement through the City Commission. A fantastic job done by so many good, decent and mostly caring people. Please take a bow!

Equally as important, University National Bank had enough faith and trust that they wanted the Orchards to succeed not only for the owners but for the Lawrence community as well. When no other lending institution would loan money for this to happen, University National Bank came to our aid to help a neighbor in need. Without both of these parties, the Orchards Golf Course would have been history. I believe these folks are your true caring neighbors to have in Lawrence.
