Show of respect

To the editor:

I object to the statement in Tuesday’s editorial (Scout’s honor) that “people scattered from the scene much like a bunch of errant boys who just hit a baseball through a neighbor’s window.” This is simply not true. Authorities were notified, and correct procedures were followed. Parents’ unwillingness to discuss the identity of the person responsible had nothing to do with who would take financial responsibility for the incident. In fact, parents were simply trying to protect a young boy and his family from public embarrassment. That’s the type of respect we’re trying to teach our young Scouts.
