A great game

To the editor:

Being old enough to remember broadcasts of Clyde Lovellette and his ’52 Kansas University team, I have heard and seen many memorable basketball games. Possibly at the top of that list was one that I recently attended only because my daughter is a cheerleader at one of the schools. It was the ninth-grade game between West and Southwest junior high schools. It was played by intense, gifted student-athletes, who were courteous to the opposing players and coaches and to the excellent officiating crew. It was a game that ended 92-91 in overtime. It was a game that no one should have felt they lost, because it was a game that became a gift that they gave to all of us who saw it.
