Roy is past

To the editor:

I would like to respond to the letter from Richard Smith published on Jan. 1. I will not dispute the Jayhawks’ uniform situation because I am not sure my take on it , however I do not think that it is that big of a deal; it is just clothing.

My real problem is with your comments about the past and wondering what “ol’ Roy” would do in many game situations, and his intensity in the huddles, and the way he had one of the referee’s ears almost every trip down the floor.

The way I see it is ol’ Roy is a dog food and not Kansas University’s basketball coach. I find myself wondering how long people are going to say Roy this and Roy that. Bill Self has taken on a very hard job in the midst of a very trying situation, how about we start saying Bill this or Bill that. He is the present and the future of KU basketball, let’s stop living in the past. Each coach has his own style; why can’t we accept that and support that?

Oh yeah, and in closing, I would just like to say “Go crimson and blue.”
