Clinton Lake Museum topic of public meeting

A public meeting will be held today to discuss plans for raising funds to improve the Clinton Lake Museum.

Douglas Burger, a consultant on the project, will outline a fund-raising plan and solicit comments or suggestions. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in Clinton Town Hall.

Wichita must manage annual aviation festival

City officials said they would work with several local groups to manage a scaled-down version of the Wichita Aviation Festival after a second company withdrew its proposal to manage the festival.

"The city is going to do basically what it did last year," said Mayor Carlos Mayans. "It was a city festival."

The event, scheduled for September, has been organized for the past two years by the city.

Officials estimate the festival will cost $400,000, with the city contributing $125,000.

John D'Angelo, who directed the festival during its first two years, said the city prefers another group spearhead and manage the event in 2005.
