Homeless funds

To the editor:

Can we really be subsidizing the golf course with $150,000 when our homeless citizens cannot afford the bus fare to get to the afternoon/evening shelter at Victory Bible Church, 1942 Mass., too far from downtown for many to walk in the ice and cold? And what happens to the people when the Coalition on Homeless Concerns runs out of funds at the end of this month to pay its excellent coordinators?

And if the Salvation Army is so concerned about homeless citizens who have drinking problems, why are there still far too many of them turned away — and out in the cold and ice all night?
