Lions’ Thomas signs with Coffeyville CC

Lawrence High senior Will Thomas signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play football at Coffeyville Community College.

Thomas will team with LHS classmate John Davis, who also signed with the Red Ravens.

Thomas played both sides of the ball for the 7-3 Lions last fall, garnering honorable mention All-Sunflower League honors as a defensive lineman. He also rushed for 147 yards as part of Lawrence’s deep rushing attack.

Davis and Thomas are Lawrence High’s only two football signees to date. Earlier, it was announced tight end Josh Lawrence would walk-on at Kansas University.

Baldwin’s Mason chooses Baker U.

Baldwin High’s Micah Mason, a two-time member of the Journal-World All-Area football team, will sign a letter of intent at 10 a.m. today with Baker University.

Mason, a running back and linebacker, will be the first announced signee of new BU head coach Mike Grossner.

Mason, who has been chosen for the Shrine Bowl, rushed for 2,011 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2003, leading Baldwin to a 9-3 record and state quarterfinal appearance.
