Police seek robber of ice cream store

Lawrence Police on Sunday were looking for a man armed with what may have been a pistol who robbed the Baskin-Robbins ice cream store, 1524 W. 23rd St.

The robber entered the store about 9:30 p.m. and took an undisclosed amount of money, Police Sgt. Craig Shanks said. A male clerk working in the store was not injured. There were no customers at the time.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 40s or early 50s. He had no facial hair and was missing two upper front teeth. He was about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds. The suspect also wore reading glasses and a black cowboy hat covered with a gray, hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect also carried a black firearm, probably a pistol, Shanks said.

After the robbery the man fled on foot to the north.
