What’s next?

To the editor:

I would like to point out that our elected city officials have all run on lofty platforms concerning pressing issues of the day. Growth, development, transportation and education are just a few. What earth-shattering problems have we seen solved? A vote against the Patriot Act, a vote telling us how long we may leash our dogs, a law sanctioning certain kinds of front porch furniture, how many unrelated people can live together and now a smoking ban in bars. What’s next, diet police?

When did the city fathers become our mothers?
