Poor coverage

To the editor:

Did anyone else notice how poorly the Kansas basketball game against Texas Christian University was covered by ESPN? Early and late in the game, the camera work was poor every time either team scored. The picture got blurry every time the ball was going in the basket.

The other problem I have was with the announcers. I know that the Jayhawk faithful generally know more specific information about our team than someone who has to know about several teams. However, more than once, the ESPN announcers referred to the starters and said something to the effect of Moody and the four seniors. I do not want to slight Michael Lee at all, but he wasn’t starting. They also couldn’t make up their minds how to pronounce many of the TCU players’ names and changed the way they said them throughout the broadcast.

I really don’t know why I didn’t do what I normally do (listen to Max and Bob on the radio while watching the game on television), but I certainly won’t make that mistake again! I do have to say that I look forward to the games on the Jayhawk Network. At least Chris Piper knows about our team! I didn’t realize how lucky we are to have such talent at the desk most of the time.
