Community effort

To the editor:

We want to say a big thank you to everyone involved in helping make the Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade on Dec. 4 a success. The response from the community in assisting CornerBank to sponsor this event was tremendous, and the comments and feedback were very positive from participants and spectators.

More than 350 people attended the dinner Friday night at the Knights of Columbus, and there were approximately 120 entries in the parade on Saturday. Some estimate the crowd on Massachusetts Street on Saturday morning near 10,000. Many of the parade guests undoubtedly visited our local businesses, restaurants and special events afterward.

The Lawrence community, all of our sponsors and the residents of Lawrence should congratulate themselves on representing our community so well. It is this type of community support that makes Lawrence a special place to live and work.

Happy holidays from the staff of CornerBank.

Barbara Braa, Deborah Kurtz and Jim Adams, CornerBank
