Warmer, but cloudy today

Another gray, but relatively warm day is in store for Lawrence. The temperature will reach into the low 50s today under mostly cloudy skies, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“For the most part, the cloud cover is going to rule today. … We’ll have clouds increasing, even thickening, by this evening,” Schack said. “I don’t think we’ll see much in the way of sunshine.”

She said there was even a slight chance for a sprinkle today.

But today’s temperature will climb above the average for this date of 44. The temperature was 36 at 8:30 a.m., with a wind chill of 29. Schack predicted the temperature would climb to 46 by noon and to 51 by 4 p.m., with south winds 5-10 mph.

Overnight, skies will clear off a bit and the temperature will drop to a low of 30 by early Thursday morning, she said.

Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, with the high reaching 57 under partly cloudy skies, Schack said.

The temperature falls off Thursday night to a low of 30 by early Friday morning.

Friday’s high will reach 42 under mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions, she said.
