Teens need fun
To the editor:
Need something new to spice up the weekend? How about a club, miniature golf course, or even a brand new arcade? Our great city of Lawrence lacks all of these places, at least for a teen, that is.
Lawrence needs places for teens to go on the weekends besides all the usual hangouts like theaters and bowling alleys. We need new businesses like miniature golf courses and teen dance clubs. After a long week of school and completing tons of homework, teens need something fun and stress-free to do.
Besides teens having a blast, the adults definitely wouldn’t be left out. Think about how much money these businesses would make and the number of job openings. Teens would practically swarm to a club every weekend to meet friends and have a good time. Think about the number of people who work at a club. To run that establishment one would need managers, bouncers, bartenders, custodians, DJs and even waiters and waitresses. That’s a lot of jobs!
Many parents are worried about drug exposure, though. Drugs are everywhere. If their teens don’t do them now, then they won’t in a club because chances are they have already said, “no” to drugs, so that isn’t a problem. These places will just be good clean fun.
All arrows point to go on this project. Lawrence should definitely open up some new things for teens. It just makes sense and it is the right thing to do, for everyone.

Lawrence
