Grant will help museum digitize collection
The Spencer Museum of Art has received a $149,061 Museum for America grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services that will help the institution create a digital database of its collection.
The funding will allow museum staff, during the next two years, to complete digital photographic documentation of the collection, enter the images into its state-of-the-art collections management database, and edit and correct existing database information.
These steps are necessary to make the collection of 25,000 objects available to the Kansas University community through the Digital Library System and, ultimately, to all Internet users through the museum’s Web site, www.spencerart.ku.edu.
