Lawrence student’s work featured in quilt

A fifth-grader at Woodlawn Elementary School will have his artwork featured in a quilt to be displayed across the state.

Jakob Drentlaw created a quilt block to represent Douglas County in a quilt for the Red Ribbon Campaign.

The campaign works to raise awareness in the fight against drug use. It is part of the Kansas Family Partnership, which works to promote positive youth behaviors by supporting diverse Kansas families and communities through education, networking and advocacy.

The quilt is intended to offer a traveling representation of Kansas’ commitment to drug prevention and the state’s effort to establish drug-free communities.

The quilt will be completed by February and on display at several Red Ribbon events throughout the year.
