Bush bashers

To the editor:

What an uproar a comment from a radio talk show host stirred up when he said that Lawrence and Kansas University are liberal bastions of Bush bashers.

As the bard said, me thinks the lady doth protest too much, for all anyone needs to do is read the letters in the Journal-World and it is evident that Rush is right.

President Bush is a Republican, a conservative and a Christian, which in the opinion of liberals makes him unfit to hold public office, so no matter what he does short of resigning or dying, preferably both, he will be castigated by the liberal establishment.

Had 9-11 not occurred, this same bunch would be screaming just as loud about some other issue.

Had F.D.R. been held as accountable for the disaster at Pearl Harbor as President Bush is for 9-11 he might have had to resign and a great wartime leader would have been lost.

And to those who criticize the president for speaking to some schoolchildren for seven minutes following the 9-11 attacks, I say, get a life.

Would it have been better if he had run screaming from the building and terrified those children or sat paralyzed in fright for over 30 minutes unable to function?

Thank God it was President Bush in command and not Kerry.

It was not a mistake to take military action to remove a dangerous and brutal dictator. It was a mistake to not take into consideration the difficulty in bringing about the pacification of Iraq and, for this, criticism is valid. But seven minutes of staying calm instead of running for cover is not valid cause for criticism.

Jim Morris,
