Sign vandals

To the editor:

This election cycle is even more deeply divided than usual. Many people have strong opinions on the various candidates and issues. It is important to get involved. First and foremost, VOTE. Talk to people, get involved in one of the campaigns or one of the parties. Go door to door and talk to people. These are all your rights.

You do not have the right to go onto private property and deface campaign signs. You certainly don’t have the right to climb a fence to paint both sides of a sign. That is trespassing and vandalism; the law frowns on those activities.

To the person that came onto my property, climbed a fence and spray painted one of my signs: Remember, I am entitled to my opinions, just as you are to yours. But all you have done is confirm my opinion of the prevailing attitudes and dirty tricks in general. I will still support my candidate and work to defeat yours.
