Good service

To the editor:

For those of you who lament the fact that great service is a thing of the past, please read on. It was time to change the oil and rotate the tires. I left the car at the shop; with the agreement to pick it up that afternoon. Unfortunately, I did not make it before they closed at 5 p.m.

That night the police called at 3:30 a.m. and asked if I owned a white car, the one with a large piece of plywood on the hood. Of course, first thing next morning I went to examine what happens when late-night partygoers toss plywood on a car. The paint scratches, dents and chips were sinister. Just then, the shop owner came out to say hi and I showed him what happened. Not six words were spoken before he was on the phone without me saying a word. There was absolutely no finger-pointing, call back later or let’s talk to the insurance company.

My car was taken care of immediately. Wow. I’m sure the bills were expensive. I’m also sure had I picked up the car on schedule, this would not have happened. I felt very special, in a time when passing the buck seems to never end. My sincere thank you to Phil and the staff at D & D Tire for their unbelievable and outstanding service and attitude.

Oh yes, one other thing: The oil change was free.
