Help each other

To the editor:

Just what everybody needs in today’s world is to open up their morning paper and read about how the city of Lawrence went in and bulldozed the campsites of homeless people without even giving them time to remove the few belongings that they own.

How sick is this? A city as blessed as Lawrence, Kan., and there is not enough compassion in the people who run it to try to be civil to the homeless. I am sure you would rather that they be somewhere else. However, I would think that by now you would realize that it is part of today’s world.

Why not find some of the green space you are always talking about and allow them to be there and be safe as long as they keep it clean and follow the laws just as everyone else is expected to do?

I think these people are owed an apology and anything else you can do to get them new tents at least.

We need to help each other, not destroy each other’s property and esteem.
