Watkins museum offers Roaring ’20s program
The Roaring ’20s will come to life Saturday at the Watkins Community Museum of History.
“All That Jazz,” a program designed for children ages 9 through 12, will be presented from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the museum, 1047 Mass. The workshop will provide an overview of the 1920s and offer children a chance to experience some of the decade’s best-known legacies: jazz music and the Charleston.
Pre-registration for this program is encouraged but not required. The fee is $8 for children of members of the Douglas County Historical Society and $10 for others.

Water officials to review Circle K purchase plan
Hutchinson — The Kansas Water Authority will review a plan to purchase a 7,000-acre ranch and retire its water rights in an effort to stabilize groundwater levels.
The water authority gets the proposal on the ranch known as the Circle K after two advisory committees recommended it, most recently the Upper Arkansas River Basin Advisory Committee, which voted 7-2 on Monday in favor of it. That comes a few weeks after the Lower Arkansas River Basin Advisory Committee did the same.
Susan Stover, an environmental scientist with the Kansas Water Office, said the water authority must now decide whether to recommend total or partial retirement of water rights on the ranch owned by Hays and Russell.
